Back to school
Over the course of the summer holidays, the project has moved forwards...
From almost the first day of the summer holiday, the school playground was dug up. This work allowed deep two metre trenching to be created to hold the services (including data and power) for the site of the temporary school. At the same time, the astroturf pitch was removed, as well as the fencing that separated areas of the courts for separate netball and tennis courts.
Concrete pads were laid in the summer to take the footings of the temporary classroom blocks, as well as the access staircases. The expanse of the building area, after demolition of the previous pitches and courts, revealed an enormous expanse of space.
Before students returned in September, the surface of the playground was smoothed over and additional netball courts were painted on the restored tarmac. From the outside of the painted hoarding nothing significant is visible to students on the playground, but within days the temporary buildings will start to arrive to be positioned behind the white panels.
