Greenshaw students join UN conference

Here is the latest update from our headteacher.

Over the last week and a half, our assemblies have been about the idea of community, including a video in which many different students from different year groups talk about their own identities and how they are associated with these. They range from Little League football teams and outside of school boxing clubs, to tutor groups and our in school science club.

The brilliant thing was to have ten minutes of talking, delivered entirely by Rameez and Zonia from our Year 11. They talked with complete fluency, showcasing for all of our students what skilled public speaking looks and sounds like. Rameez and Zonia have really set the bar high for all other speakers in assemblies, and I have extended my appreciation for their efforts to them individually.

West London Model UN Conference 2025

The West London Model UN conference took place on Saturday 1st February at the American School, London. Fourteen of our Year 12 students were invited, alongside students from twenty-two other schools.

Assigned the role of diplomats from various countries, our students attended committees on peace, justice and building strong institutions. They formally discussed and passed resolutions on issues such as child online safety or world peace. After a welcoming open ceremony, the 'diplomats' spent the whole day in their assigned committees and fought hard to collaborate and debate effectively with other 'delegate members of state' in order to work towards common goals.

At the awards ceremony in the late afternoon, the ten committees directors and chair persons presented awards for: Best Speaker, Most Diplomatic, Honourable Mention and Best Position Paper.  We were proud to receive five prestigious awards, even better than our efforts at this event last year.

Create a piece of art to change the face of our building site

Bowmer and Kirkland and the Department of Education have asked Greenshaw students to create a piece of art to tell people what Greenshaw stands for, what our ethos is and most importantly, who we are. Creations can be computer generated or drawn by hand.

If your child has a quiet few hours this weekend, please see if they have participated. Students can submit artwork by logging onto Frog and clicking on the Community Board Competition button. The deadline is at the end of next week, Friday 14th February.
