A busy week in school
Students lead Year 11's Black Icons assembly.
This has been a busy and very varied week in school. The latest round of assemblies have included our student presented Black Icons assembly, as part of our Black History Month efforts. There is always something special about setting students leading an assembly – you could have heard a pin drop as our Year 11 students listened attentively this morning. Yesterday afternoon saw some of our Sixth Form students head to the Cancer Research Institute to develop their understanding of leading edge scientific research. We have now closed our collection for the Red Cross supporting survivors of the dreadful earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. We are sending off £510 to that cause, thanks to the generosity of our pupils. These three unconnected activities give you just a small flavour of the variety of things we get up to each week.

Flu vaccinations
The flu vaccinations will take place in school next Wednesday 18th October. If your child feels unwell the following day, please note that they should still attend school as normal – please just give them some pain relief. Any 'low level illness' absences following the vaccination will be recorded as an unauthorised absence on your child's attendance record.
Parenting programmes in Sutton
Attached below is information regarding free parenting courses being run in Sutton which may be of interest to some of our families, including the ‘Chill, Chat and Connect’ group for dads and male carers.
Catering survey
The Greenshaw Learning Trust would like to obtain views from parents regarding the food options available in their schools. We hope this will enable further developments to be made for your children. It would be much appreciated if you could spare a couple of minutes to complete the survey here. The survey will be live until 20th October.
Students of the week
Congratulations to our stars of the week who have demonstrated something special in their attitude to their peers, the community or their learning. Well done to each of them.

So we have one week before the half term break. Please do ensure that your child/ren are in school every day next week. We have had a really good term of attendance so far, let’s make sure this continues to the end.
Wishing you all restful weekends.
