STUDENTS MAKE £1,000 DONATION TO LOCAL CHARITY

A huge congratulations to our A Level Maths stars.

Every Friday you will see the names of our ‘Students of the Week’ and one of my most enjoyable tasks is catching up with these brilliant young people and hearing about their achievements. There are a wide range of different reasons that students receive their nominations, and I thought I would share a couple of examples.

In the last two weeks, the nominated students have included: a student who returned a lost wallet, including a significant amount of money to their Head of Year; students who attended a local police community group, representing younger citizens; and students whose attendance at school this term has been significantly higher than last year. In addition, on two separate occasions, students have come across adult members of the public in distress in the local community and, in one case, helped them to St Helier hospital and in the other, got support from school staff to help. We do not publish the details of why each ‘Student of the Week’ gets nominated, but I thought families would like to know a sample of the many things that our great young people are getting up to.

Helping others – raising funds for Jigsaw4U

Continuing the theme of supporting others, I was very proud that our students attended the AGM of a local charity, Jigsaw4U. This great charity (website link here) provides a range of support for local young people with social and emotional difficulties, and we benefit from their work as a school. The AGM was attended by the Mayor of Sutton, trustees, volunteers and people who have been supported by the charity, as well as our students.

We raised over £1,000 from our annual Sixth Form versus staff football match, which was donated to Jigsaw4U. I would like to thank Jiewie, Ekow and Kofi for receiving a fundraising certificate on behalf of the school. We will continue to support this excellent group with future events as we get closer to Christmas.

Admissions into Year 7 in September 2025

Please remember that if you have a younger child currently in Year 6 at primary school, the deadline to apply for Year 7 entry in September 2025 is 31st October 2024.  You must apply via your local home authority.

Any applications submitted after this date will be treated as a late application and will not be considered until after all those applications that were received on time. A huge congratulations to our A Level Maths stars

We are incredibly proud of our A Level Maths students for their fantastic participation in this year’s UKMT Senior Maths Challenge. Their hard work, dedication, and sharp mathematical minds shone through, and they made us all proud.

A special round of applause goes to Maanav, Naman, and Jathhi, who have excelled and earned a place in the highly competitive Andrew Jobbings Kangaroo Maths Challenge. This is a remarkable accomplishment, and we have no doubt that they will continue to achieve great things.

Harvest Festival collection for Sutton Foodbank

During the next week we will start communicating about our Harvest Festival collection for the Sutton Foodbank, ready for dropping off at school in the final week before half term. I will confirm details of the donations that the Sutton Foodbank would particularly appreciate in next Friday’s letter. In the meantime, I hope you all have a very happy weekend.
