Greenshaw hosts chess competition

Students playing chess in a classroom.

The Greenshaw chess club hosted a competitive tournament on Monday.

On Monday 27th January, our chess team represented Greenshaw High School in a competitive match against Caterham School, an independent school in Surrey.

Though we fought our hardest, we were unfortunately defeated, but none of our team members considered it a defeat as we came out stronger than before.

Many of our opponent's team members came up to me to tell me how much they enjoyed playing in such a serene environment. Their team members also commented on how welcoming we were, and how nice the overall atmosphere at Greenshaw High School was.

At the end of the match, we shook hands and, though Caterham School students walked away triumphant, we enjoyed the satisfaction of playing a stronger team and learning from our mistakes in order to bounce back stronger.

The students of the Greenshaw chess team would like to thank everyone for such a nice experience, and we look forward to many more matches in the future.
